How To Select Items Or Services For Your Wedding

Planning your own wedding or event can be a huge task because it puts you in the driving seat to find and then decide on how or what to choose when making purchases, rentals or booking the services of a venue or vendors.

It can be a real challenge trying to decide why you should go with this service or that or whether or not to choose this package or that. It can be tricky because you can't always base your decisions solely on prices and while it's an important factor it's not the only factor that will aid in making the right decision. Another factor that should be considered is "order of importance" which plays even a bigger role because this will help you in choosing one item over the other or what's ultimately right for you.

In order to know the answer to what are the most important things to you, you'll need to create a list based on your event and number the order of importance with number 1 being the highest. You can then choose a top 5 or 10 that you're not willing to make any compromises on, which in essence, equates to prices being the least deciding factor and importance as the highest.

An example of order of importance is like making the following list as seen below

1. PHOTOS
You may deem having high quality photos that captures your wedding in all it's glory too important to make compromises on, so you'll choose a good photographer based on previous work performed or referrals.

2. WEDDING DRESS
You may deem having a special gown that you've always dreamed of wearing too important to make changes on.

3. DECOR
You may deem having a beautiful ceremony and reception decor that will set the tone or create the right atmosphere for your wedding, too important to make compromises on, so you'll base your decision on the design.

4. WEDDING CAKE
You may deem having that specially designed 5 tier wedding cake too important to make changes on.

5. MENU SELECTION
You may deem having that 5 or 7 course meal with the selected flatware, glassware and silverware too important to make changes in this area.

This is just an example of the areas that could be the most important to you, along with why they're so important or  things that you identify as part of your dream wedding, which is why you're not willing to make compromises on.

Now you'll direct your budget to guarantee your choices are as desired by cutting back or scaling down on the other areas that are of less significance in comparison.

In general, never compromise on quality or reliability because it can make or break your wedding or event, but you can always try to negotiate prices to fit your budget and if all else fails reduce the quantity, size or package where possible and judge wisely.
