Things you need to know or have in place to create your invitations are:
• Guest List
• Venue
• Design
• Formality Of Wedding
Guest List
Your guest list is a list of names that entails persons you'd like to invite. You'll need to know this before hand to ascertain the amount of invitations that needs to be printed and always have a few extras for things like your (B) list guests. You'll also have the option of printing your guest's name and address on the envelopes.
Venue
The invitation will need to have key details such as the name of the guest, event, time, place and RSVP. So you'll need to have your ceremony and reception venues booked in order to include the address or addresses of the venue.
Design
This entails the general look of the Invitations as it pertains to a theme or colour scheme. The design can also speak to the shape and size of your invitations, along with the paper they are printed on. And whether or not you'll be adding, lace, ribbons or other embellishments to them or there envelopes.
Formality Of Wedding
Weddings fall into three main categories, which are; formal, informal and semi-formal. So it's important that you have the correct wording style for a formal versus an informal wedding invitation as it pertains to etiquette.

RSVP
Your Invitations will also need to include a way your guests can respond in the form of an RSVP which is an initialism derived from the French phrase Répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning "Please respond". This is required for confirmation to reception invitations or a combination of the two and not for ceremony only Invitations.

Sending Your Invitations
After completing your wedding invitations with matching envelopes, you're now ready to start sending them out. Wedding etiquette says that your invitations are to be mailed 6-8 weeks in advance, but i'll suggest or recommend you send them10-12 weeks and give your guests 3 weeks to RSVP. If anyone declines you can always send invitations to your (B) list guests and they'll have ample time to prepare and respond. RSVP is very important as this will let you know who will be able to attend and who won't. You can then create a table or seating plan with no fewer than 2 weeks before the wedding date.
